This series consists of correspondence, memorandums, bulletins, telegrams, and minutes of conferences. Non-textual records consist of architectural drawings, photographs, maps, and sketches. Series A: Educational Activities and Museum Planning, 1921-1943 [bulk 1925-1943] This subseries concerns early interpretative programs and museum planning in western National Park Service (NPS) units. Records chronicle exhibit development and educational activities, especially driven by funding from the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) and later the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and the Public Works Administration (PWA). Documents include exhibit proposals, museum plans and manuals, collection policies, park naturalists’ reports and manuals, reports on activities in support of various world expositions (Chicago and San Diego), and cooperation with state and local museums. Other files include PWA personnel records, documentation on the establishment of NPS libraries and research files. Series B: Visitor Center and Wayside Exhibits, 1956-1966 Records consist of planning documents and correspondence concerning the development of visitor center exhibits and wayside signs in the western NPS units including: Badlands National Monument (NM) Bryce Canyon National Park (NP) Coulee Dam National Recreation Area Cedar Break NM Crater Lake NP Craters of the Moon NM Fort Union NM Grand Teton NP Sequoia-Kings Canyon NPs Yosemite NP Zion NP
